Declaration of Independence for Today

Dear Patriots:

If you have not read our Declaration of Independence lately, Please do so now — and read it OUT LOUD. Or at least read these few excerpts which are especially specific to today.

We see so many similarities to the tragedy that is occurring in our Blessed America today. See if there are instances in our Declaration of Independence  that could apply to today’s iron fist emanating from Washington.

Here are a few quick quotes:

DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE – JULY 4, 1776

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government,…… [...]

The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States.

He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.

He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.

He has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary powers.

He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.

He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.

He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures. {BO has plans for this – Citizen Armies}

He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power.

He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:

He is at this time transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to compleat the works of death, desolation and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty & perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation. {Would this apply to imigration Amnesty?}

He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless … Savages, whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.

In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.

Rick Warren speaks at Islam Convention July 4th

Rick Warren, in his effort to be Ecumenical Pastor of the World, will be speaking to the Islamic Society of North America at their conference in Washington DC. on July 4, 2009, American Independence Day.

Do you suppose he will share the Gospel of Jesus Christ and ask these Muslims to trust Jesus Christ as their Savior? Don’t hold your breath.

Dare I say that Rick is interested in Rick and the subversive power he can exert in the world. Will he pray in the name of Isa, the Muslim “Jesus” as he did in the inaugural prayer for Barack Hussein Obama?

    The End of America’s Strategic Alliance with Israel?

    Caroline Glick at National Review OnLine gives the Conservative Israeli view of Obama’s speech.

    It is amazing to see her analysis compared to the fawning media coverage.

    Here are some quotes:

    From an Israeli perspective, Pres. Barack Obama’s speech today in Cairo was deeply disturbing. Both rhetorically and programmatically, Obama’s speech was a renunciation of America’s strategic alliance with Israel.

    Rhetorically, Obama’s sugar coated the pathologies of the Islamic world — from the tyranny that characterizes its regimes, to the misogyny, xenophobia, Jew hatred, and general intolerance that characterizes its societies. In so doing he made clear that his idea of pressing the restart button with the Islamic world involves erasing the moral distinctions between the Islamic world and the free world.

    In contrast, Obama’s perverse characterization of Israel — of the sources of its legitimacy and of its behavior — made clear that he shares the Arab world’s view that there is something basically illegitimate about the Jewish state.

    Obama has overplayed his hand. This public support gives Netanyahu the maneuver room he needs to take the actions that Israel needs to take to defend against the prospect of a nuclear armed Iran and to assert its national rights and to defend itself against Palestinian terrorists and other Arab and non-Arab anti-Semites who wish it ill.

    American Christians and Jews — we must be aware that our friend Israel is being betrayed — and just as the Bible says will happen in the last days, Jerusalem will be surrounded and attacked by the world.

    The tine is now to tell our unbelieving friends and neighbors about salvation in Jesus Christ and Him alone.

    Obama Promises Arabs Jerusalem !

    Concerned Jews and Bible believing Christians — Pay attention.

    It appears Obama and his cohorts have promised Mahmoud Abbas that Jerusalem will be the capital of the Palestinian Authority (PA).

    Here is an excerpt from World Net Daily, which is usually a very reliable source, quoting Obama Administration and PA sources.

    President Obama and his administration told Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas during a meeting last week the U.S. foresees the creation of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, according to a top PA official speaking to WND.

    “The American administration was very friendly to the position of the PA,” said Nimer Hamad, Abbas’ senior political adviser.

    “Abu Mazen (Abbas) heard from Obama and his administration in a very categorical way that a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital is in the American national and security interest,”

    Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been rebuffed by the Administration. It seems the Nation of Israel is no longer a friend of the USA.

    Keep your eyes and ears on Obama this week when he goes to Egypt to speak to the Islamic nations.

    This is an ominous sign  that the President of the United States would go back on promises made to Israel for many years.

    We in America have an administration that has no concern for the future of the nation of Israel, the Bible and thousands of years of history.

    This is a heartbreaking sign for America and Israel.

    What is our beloved country becoming?

    What if this were a weekly Woman’s Bridge Club or a bunch of kids playing board games? Read the whole thing — after you read this quote from the World Net Daily article:

    “A  San Diego pastor and his wife claim they were interrogated by a county official and warned they will face escalating fines if they continue to hold Bible studies in their home.

    The couple, whose names are being withheld until a demand letter can be filed on their behalf, told their attorney a county government employee knocked on their door on Good Friday, asking a litany of questions about their Tuesday night Bible studies, which are attended by approximately 15 people.

    “Do you have a regular weekly meeting in your home? Do you sing? Do you say ‘amen’?” the official reportedly asked. “Do you say, ‘Praise the Lord’?”

    The pastor’s wife answered yes.

    She says she was then told, however, that she must stop holding “religious assemblies” until she and her husband obtain a Major Use Permit from the county, a permit that often involves traffic and environmental studies, compliance with parking and sidewalk regulations and costs that top tens of thousands of dollars.

    Christians Beware! Will Obama Sign “Hate Crimes” Bill?

    As of today. Pastors are under threat of legal action and jail for preaching the Bible. The House of Representatives passed H.R. 1913 eliminating the rights of Bible Believing Pastors and Christians to preach the Bible

    From World Net Daily 4/20/09:

    Members of the U.S. House today approved a plan to create a federal “hate crimes” plan that will provide special protections to homosexuals and others with alternative sexual choices, but leave Christian ministers and pastors open to prosecution should their teachings be linked to any subsequent offense, by anyone, against a “gay.”

    The vote was 249-175, and came despite intense Republican opposition to the creation of the privileged class.

    Andrea Lafferty, executive director of the Traditional Values Coalition, said, “The Anti-Christian Caucus of the U.S. House of Representatives has acted today to lay the legal foundation and framework to investigate, prosecute and persecute pastors, youth pastors, Bible teachers, and anyone else whose Bible speech and thought is based upon and reflects the truths found in the Bible.

    Christians beware. The Liberals are out to close down and eliminate our belief system under threat of law!

    Help Me Out about ØObama

    I need some help to honor the 100 days of infamy of the Øbama administration.

    I am compiling a list of laws, proposed laws and rulings from the Øbama Administration that have or will negatively impact Bible Believing Christians.

    I feel many laws may not be directed against Bible Believing Christians but the effects of them will impact us.

    I’ll name a couple but I will appreciate your input.

    1) Reducing tax deductions for charities.,

    2) Multiply America Service Corps by thousands which will indoctrinate our young people.

    That is a small start.. Let’s see what my dear readers can come up with. Most of his abominable laws will impact everybody — thereby impacting Christians also ;-)

    I pray I still have a few readers left after my absence for a while.

    “TEA” Parties a Success

    The successful April 15th “TEA” Parties all over our Republic were a resounding success — in spite of the main stream media’s ignorant dismissal of these Americans.

    It was exciting to see multiple thousands of Patriotic Americans rally for their right to speak out..

    However, my immediate thoughts were — “Wouldn’t it be great to see true Bible believing Christians together sharing such enthusiasm with the desire to tell their friends, neighbors and the world that Jesus Christ is the only Savior. He died and rose from the grave to pay the sin-debt for everyone in the world — and that by putting their faith in Jesus Christ alone, they WILL have everlasting life GUARANTEED.”

    I am not delusional and know that is not likely to happen. We believers still must share our faith in Christ one person at a time, one on one.

    Why are we hesitant? Let’s do it… and do it now!!

    Sermons Almost Thrown Away

    Eloquent and learned sermons, deep and logical editorials, fine attractive exegeses, scholarly theological treatises-all these are to the intellect a treat, and perhaps very interesting; and yet, if no soul is won to Christ by them, they are as sounding brass and tinkling cymbal. Time to no purpose is consumed in listening to or reading them. unless the soul is touched and the sinner turned toward Jesus or if Christian progress in divine life is not made.-Ex.

    Yet there are many who are preaching just such sermons. The great mission of the preacher should be to preach Jesus and him crucified. If all of our preachers would do this “the soul would be touched and the sinner drawn to Jesus.”

    Churches Lose Charity Donations Under Obama Budget

    Here I excerpt from a note. One of my readers Robert S. sent a note from the Hal Lindsey Report

    On this week’s edition of “The Hal Lindsey Report,” [we see] one of the most recent shockers from the nascent Obama administration. In his proposed 2010 budget, President Obama intends to begin the destruction of charitable giving in America. He proposes to reduce the value of the tax break one can receive by donating to charity.

    This is only the beginning. Obama claims that any shortfall will be made up by the government. Think about that… Do you want Obama, Biden, Pelosi, Reid, Barney Fwank, et al determining which “charity” receives YOUR  tax dollars? I say “NO”!

    Flood your Representatives and Senators with calls telling them this new scam is un-American… Do not pass the 2010 Budget as written!!

    MacArthur Type — New Apostacy

    One of my readers who signs his comments “Stickin to the Bible” wrote a couple of comments which deserve more than just a cursory look.

    He compared the doctrine of Francis Chan,  author of a new book, “Crazy Love,” to John MacArthur.

    I have never read the book but did look up Chan and his ministries and find him to proclaim Calvinist doctrine (as does MacArthur).

    My friend, Stickin’ then proceded to offer another comment with details from pages of Chan’s book. I will quote some below — so you may be forewarned about Francis Chan.

    Stickin’ To The Scriptures said:

    I have also heard that Chan is a graduate of Master’s College and Seminary, both schools founded and presided over by John MacArthur.  In Chan’s book, Crazy Love, David Cook Pub., 2008, pp. 68-78, he creates a list of what he describes as his “profile of the lukewarm.”  His descriptions are along these lines:

    1. people who say they love Jesus but only include him as a part of their lives; 2. people who are moved by stories about those who do what he calls, “radical things for Christ,” but they themselves do not do such things; 3. people who rarely share their faith with others for fear of rejection; 4. on page 78 he says, “Lukewarm People feel secure because they attend church, made a profession of faith at age twelve, were baptized, come from a Christian family, vote Republican, or live in America.”   After making his list of  what he calls “Lukewarm People,” he then discards them like matchsticks all in one fell swoop on pp. 83-84.  Chan says, “As I see it, a lukewarm Christian is an oxymoron; there’s no such thing.  To put it plainly, churchgoers who are “lukewarm” are not Christians.  We will not see them in heaven.”

    Clerarly, Stickin’ has pegged Francis Chan as a MacArthur type “Lordshuip Salvationist.” Chan’s statements above imply that one cannot be a Christian without good works — in direct opposition to multiple scriptures which state that salvation is free and complete apart from good works. Ephesians 2:8-9, Titus 3:5, Romans 11:6.

    Obviously Francis Chan has interpreted Scripture to suit himself or has never read the Book of First Corinthians about the carnal believers in Corinth.

    Change the Gospel ???

    My Sweet Wife and I are blessed to have a dear friend (along with his family), Pastor, Author and Lecturer, Dr. Tom Cucuzza, of Northland Bible Baptist Church in St. Cloud, MN. (His excellent book, Secure Forever! is mentioned here on the right sidebar of this page. Check it out).

    In the middle seventies our small South Florida church was blessed to have Tom as our Youth Pastor and later our Assistant Pastor. He and his wonderful wife Sue worked tirelessly with us for the Lord.

    Tom and I recently had an email discussion about people and organizations who publish Christian commentaries, books and DVDs. We find it disappointing and inexcusable when we see so much good media spoiled by the proclamation of a misleading “gospel” message. We see such phrases as:

    • you must give your life to Christ to be saved
    • turn from sin to be saved
    • come under Christ in obedience and to the study of His Word in Holy Scripture to appropriate God’s Grace
    • Make Christ the Lord of your life to be saved — and many more.

    These are important things to do AFTER one is saved but an unbeliever can never claim these as a means to gain eternal life. Salvation is only by faith in Jesus Christ and His sacrifice on the cross alone — without works of righteousness. (Titus 3:5 and Ephesians 2:8-9)

    Shirley and I both were thrilled by the succinct wisdom of Tom’s statement in an email we received today:

    “I do not understand why [Christian] people have to change the gospel. We are simply His [the Lord's] ambassadors to bring His message to people. We need to represent the Lord properly by saying what He has given us to say.” Dr. Tom Cucuzza

    There are some Christians who will agree with Tom’s statement but few who actually follow such a simple, profound truth. Why it is so difficult for Christians to comprehend that?

    Of course we may guess why some would sacrifice the truth for error. Could it be because of ignorance, deceit, conceit, self importance or just trying to build a bigger and “better” church? Regardless of the reason, there is no Biblical justification for error.

    The Apostle Paul warned in Galatians 1:6-9
    “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.”

    And the Apostle Peter wrote in 1 Peter 1:25
    “But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.”

    Real Hope 2009

    This is a revised re-post of a message posted over two years ago and 56,000 Blog views later. This was before Barack Hussein Obama took the word HOPE and perverted it into his campaign slogan. This is one of my most-read posts so I thought it deserved a fresh look at this beginning of the New Year, 2009.

    Let us look at Real Hope.

    For centuries man has misunderstood or misinterpreted many words in God’s Holy Scripture. “Scholars” debate the meanings of Biblical words and we must determine whether such interpretations are errors or truth. If errors, whether they are accidental or deliberate. Let’s take the wonderful and exhilarating word “Hope” and see if we can understand it. Of course this writing will be an abbreviated explanation of the word but it is a start.

    One may say, “I hope it will not rain today.” “I hope my car will start when I have an emergency.” “I hope my children will grow up to be great citizens.” “I hope. I hope. I hope.”

    The standard dictionary definition, and one that is generally accepted by most of the world is “to FEEL that something desired MAY happen:” The words “feel” and “may” are two very indefinite words, but such a definition of “hope” exemplifies the thinking of most people today.

    The dictionary definition of the word “hope” is NOT the Biblical Hope of which we speak.

    Let us investigate the Old and New Testament meanings of the word “Hope.”

    Here is ne of many uses of the word Hope in the Old Testament:

    Psalm 39:7

    “And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee.”

    Here we see a Hebrew word towcheleth but with root meaning “expectation.” These and many, many more verses illustrate the Psalmist’s reliance upon the trustworthiness of the Lord God Almighty. The Lord CAN be trusted. He WILL keep His promises.

    Now, in the New Testament we see the word “Hope” in many verses. This word “Hope” is an absolute, a guarantee without a doubt. It is the Greek word “elpis” meaning “to expect or anticipate with pleasure.”

    Colossians 1:5

    “For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;

    The Hope of Heaven is not a maybe — but an absolute and definite guarantee by the Word of the Truth of the Gospel.

    Titus 1:2

    “In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;”

    Read that carefully! Eternal life — guaranteed and promised by the God of the Universe. He cannot lie.

    Titus 2:13

    “Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;”

    Every true believer in Jesus Christ may look with confidence to the glorious appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ. No doubt!

    Titus 3:7

    “That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”

    We are Justified by God’s grace, guaranteed — Rendered innocent or free by God’s Grace, eternal life guaranteed!

    As you read this, I want you to have that Hope or guarantee personally. God offers you this by His Grace.

    Just briefly, no one deserves to live in Heaven or have eternal life with the perfectly Righteous God (Revelation 21:27). We are all sinners by nature and deed. Simply put, we have all sinned and come short of the mark of God’s absolute righteousness (Romans 3:23). All sin requires a death penalty payment that must be paid — and that penalty is spiritual death, being apart from God in Hell (Romans 4:23).

    By God’s Grace and Love He Himself provided a Sin Bearer in the person of Jesus Christ who was crucified for our sin, was buried and rose again. This Grace is available to the whole world — including you personally (John 3:16). It is not determined by how good you are — or how hard you try — or by your good works, but by Grace alone — which means “undeserved mercy.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)

    How can we KNOW that God’s promise of Hope is real?

    1 John 5:13

    “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may KNOW that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.”

    You can KNOW. God promises Heaven, the Hope (guarantee) of eternal life is when you trust that Jesus paid the death penalty in your place. He promises — and all you need do is to trust Jesus as your Savior. Please believe His Word — He died for you.

    If you have never trusted Jesus alone as your Savior, do that right now. Believe His promises of eternal life which are yours the moment you trust Jesus as YOUR Savior.

    Read, remember and believe this:

    Jesus died — That’s history. Jesus died for ME — that’s salvation.

    When you make that simple decision, your eternity in Heaven is secure in Jesus Christ. It is God’s guarantee, thus your HOPE of Heaven is guaranteed eternal. You are immediately declared righteous before a Holy God with no possibility of losing His Gift of salvation. Eternal life is ETERNAL — without end, beginning the moment you trust Christ as your personal Savior.

    Romans 1:16

    For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek [gentile].”

    Please, trust Jesus Christ as your Savior NOW! God has no strings attached! Claim that wonderful HOPE — His eternal Gift..

    He Came To Die

    Jesus Christ, the Babe in the Manger — came specifically to die for the sins of the World, Jew and Gentile..Often we forget this truth at Christmas time.

    It was predicted in the Old Testament that he would come to die for the Nation of Israel — but ALSO for the Gentiles!!

    In the Old Testament: Isaiah 60:3 Speaking of the Lord and His Messiah:
    And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.

    Isaiah 53:5
    But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

    And in the New Testament:Acts 28:28
    Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.

    Romans 1:16
    For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek [Gentile].

    Jesus is THE SAVIOR – He died for YOU.. was buried and arose from the grave. He is ALIVE. Believe in Him — HE alone saves!!

    CFL BULB BURNS, ARCS & SMOKES ***UPDATE***

    DANGER — Arcing and burning Compact Fluorescent Light (CFL) bulbs are hazardous to your health and home. My experience.

    A year or so we bought a multi pack of 20 amp CFL (Compact Fluorescent Light) bulbs (made in China, distributed by a company N:Vision and sold by Home Depot). This was before the Geeenies began demanding them — or before the US Government mandated their future use.

    [After several letters to N:Vision, I discovered the CFL BULB is manufactured by GE, NOT N:Vision. All references to N:LVisiuon are in error. I apologize. However the story is still true.]

    We found that CFLs do not last as long as regular incandescent bulbs.. so we decided we would use up the remaining two and never buy any more — unless forced by our benevolent government.

    A couple of weeks ago we were working in the office where a CFL bulb blacked out. I had no reason to replace it immediately so I continued working on the computer.

    Soon there was an acrid odor in the room. I looked at the lamp which held the CFL bulb and there was a plume of smoke beginning to fill the area., I looked at the bulb and it was brightly arcing, burning and smoking right at the place where the glass tube meets the base. As soon as I could get to it, I switched the lamp off,  however not before the room and part of the house was filled with the awful odor of something burning and arcing electricity.

    I took a picture of the burned CFL bulb and emailed it the distributing company N:Vision, with a description of the problem, (N:Vision is not the distributor/manufacturer – It is a GE manufactured Bulb]

    They apologized for the problem but without any explanation of why or what to do, except I should seek medical attention if I felt ill. Also they could find no information about whether or not the smoke we breathed is toxic.

    Just think what could have happened had the CFL bulb been in a room unattended or in a ceiling fixture. Would the whole house have filled with toxic fumes? Were the “well advertised” CFL mercury fumes borne about on the rising smoke? Would the burning bulb ignite other stuff in the room? Would it have exploded?

    Folks be VERY careful when using the CFL bulbs. Or better yet, DON’T use them at all.

    THEY ARE DANGEROUS !!

    Does anyone know to whom this can be reported — someone who will take some action, advertise or warn of  the problem?

    Shirley and I thank each of you for your friendship, prayers, encouraging notes and phone calls.

    We thank the Lord that my eye surgery was completely successful. I had no Retinal bleed, no stroke and no cardiac event — all of which were risk possibilities after temporarily ceasing certain medications.

    My vision is not perfect yet but improving and much clearer. My Doc says it should be considerably better before my next visit one week from today. There is still a possibility I may need distance glasses, but what a wonderful difference already!

    I look forward to seeing the yellow fire hydrant at the end of the block — then I know it will be time to start driving again.

    Even though it was a hectic time, I had several great opportunities to share my faith, salvation in Jesus Christ alone. Some believers were encouraged and some unbelievers responded to the Gospel. No one refused my tract. Please pray for more opportunities for all of us.

    THANKFUL !!

    Am I thankful?Absolutely and you should be too.

    Thankful that:

    • The Lord loved a sinner such as me. Sinner, because I am short of God’s perfection (the definition of sin). God Loved me enough to have Jesus Christ come to earth to pay my sin debt by dying on the Cross of Calvary. He was buried and rose again, proving Himself to be God and capable of saving a sinner such as me. He gave me the choice to trust Jesus Christ by His Grace. Ephesians 2:8-9
    • A dear friend cared enough about unbelievers (me) that she carried me to a place where I heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ and made the decision to trust Christ as my Savior. What a Savior!! I KNOW I have eternal Life. I John 5_13
    • We still have the privilege in this country of sharing and witnessing our faith in Jesus Christ. All of us who trust Christ alone as our Savior should be concerned for those without Christ. Mark 16:15 “.. Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
    • I have Shirley, such a sweet and loving wife as my dear companion, provided by God’s Grace.
    • We have such a very special bunch of caring kids, g’kids and one very sweet little g’g'daughter.
    • I still have one eye remaining which will be operated on in early December — and we pray and expect it will be successful.
    • We live in the greatest country in the world, and, as one of our founding Fathers said, “A Republic, if we can keep it.” (Pray for our Country).
    • Our Brave Military willingly takes up arms to protect our country.
    • We are blessed with our amazing Constitution and Bill of Rights.
    • The Lord has provided us with [think about it] grass, trees, sunrises and sunsets, cloudy and clear skies, fresh ocean breezes, food, heat and air conditioning, paramedics, firefighters, doctors, nurses and dentists, hospitals, shoes, clothes, tap water, indoor plumbing, some remaining churches with Godly Bible preaching Pastors, the ability to write, read and understand, a plethora of wonderful friends,
    • And much more if you care to list yours in our comment section.

    Blessings After A Disastrous Election

    We, the citizens of The United States of America, have experienced an unparalleled retreat from freedom to a government that would be unrecognized by our founders.

    Forty-four years ago this month (1964) I experienced a similar political defeat after working for several years to elect the Conservative Presidential candidate Barry Goldwater. We lost by a landslide. I was as depressed as one could possibly be..

    However, there was a bright side, a blessing that resulted from that defeat which I want to share with you. There is Light and Truth ahead.

    I originally wrote this rather long note to a dear friend and fellow victim of cancer, who told me he was searching for “something” but did not know what.

    Please bear with me and read this all the way through.

    George Orick was a man of considerable intellect, having been a published writer, producer and assistant to news anchor, talking head, Peter Jennings at ABC TV. I corresponded with George from 1995 until he passed away around 2002. He was retired and living in Provence, France and traveled between there and Jakarta, Indonesia. We wrote frequently, I shared my faith and he asked many questions. One day I received a letter simply asking me two questions, “What is faith and how should I pray.” I wrongly assumed my previous letters answered those questions but with this note I took more time and went into more detail. This letter below was my answer.

    I regret that George never told me whether or not he understood and believed what I had written. Shortly after I sent this note to him he passed away from complications of prostate cancer as he flew on an airliner over Canada from Paris to visit a prostate cancer specialist in California. Later I posted this slightly revised note on a Prostate Cancer mailing list to about 2,000 fellow cancer victims who knew George and me.

    Dear George,

    I’ll answer your question with my story:

    My childhood and pre-teen years were spent in a Calvinist religion where I supposedly read the Bible. Spiritual hypocrisy and boredom were facts of life in our family and church. When, at about age sixteen or seventeen, I was out from under control of my parents, I dumped this religion. From then up until the time I was 35 years old, I investigated many religions, Catholicism, Zen Buddhism and a plethora of so-called Protestant religions. Even the dark powers of the supernatural intrigued me. None of these religions ever “stuck” because they were neither logical nor satisfying. Agnosticism was my game for a long time — until I learned the word agnostic means “without knowledge.” Feeling it was un-cool to be without knowledge, I settled on atheism.

    I was surrounded by Calvinists, my Mom and Dad, my sister and brother-in-law, my Best Man in our wedding, neighbors and friends. None of them ever spoke to me of Jesus Christ in any way.

    My dear Baptist wife, Fern, tried to persuade me to “believe” or “have faith” but she simply could not tell me how or what to believe. So we argued “religion” and often she went to bed crying. She suggested that I, “Just go to church, ANY church!” I replied “OK, how about I go to the church of Satan?” Believe me, we didn’t get over that discussion for a long time.

    We had three wonderful young kids whom I loved. Somehow, at that time, I started thinking about how I should raise them and what I should teach them to “believe.” I figured they should believe something even though I did not. My lack of any foundation frustrated me.

    Much like you, George, I realized there was something I needed but could never pinpoint “what.”

    In the early sixties it was clear to me that our country was on a path of financial, moral and political ruin through Socialism. So I tried politics. I met Shirley Spellerberg, a lady who later became a radio and television personality in Miami. Shirley and her friends seemed to have something special about that them I was looking for, but I was hesitant to ask. She didn’t volunteer because as she says now, “I didn’t want to be too pushy.” I often wonder how I would have responded had she told me. Then, after our disastrous national political defeat of 1964 I was deeply depressed.

    About a month after the agonizing defeat our friend Shirley invited us to a meeting purported to be a “Conservative” Christmas concert. That night I noticed many familiar bumper stickers in the parking lot so I figured I was on friendly ground.

    Another friend met us at the meeting carrying a Bible. She became the target of my ridicule. Who in their right mind would carry a Bible to a concert? Well, the “joke” was on me, it was a Christian Concert. I would have turned the invitation down cold had I known the concert was at a Bible College. I was irritated, but to this day I’m thankful to God that Shirley invited us.

    The Christmas music was interesting and seasonal. Later in the program a gentleman spoke for about 30 minutes. As he started, I asked my friend, “Who is this man?” She described him as a Pastor and the President of the Bible College. Shirley had hoodwinked me. Oh, how I dreaded the thought of having to sit and listen to “preacher talk!”

    Somehow this man’s message was different from the messages of other preachers I had known. He used several illustrations while quoting Bible verses that caught my attention. As he spoke, he pointed with his index finger out to the audience and said “You are sinners! You are short of God’s perfection!” That did not offend me because I knew I was not a very good person. Then the amazing part to me, he said, with a smile, “I hate to point at you like this, because every time I do, I have three more fingers pointing back at me and I am reminded that I am no better than you and maybe three times worse.”

    This astounded me. Here was a Pastor and President of a Bible college who placed himself in the same boat as me along with his audience and did not put himself on a pedestal. That got my attention! He quoted the only scripture I remembered learning as a child, John 3:16. But with the reading, he also simply explained what the verse meant, using what he described as a “hand gesture” showing how God, through Jesus Christ took my sins upon Himself and paid for them on the cross, was buried and rose again. Wow, his illustration was so simple. Other verses with illustrations he used from the Bible sounded so logical. During the prior thirty years I either ignored or missed the meaning of those simple words. Obscure Bible scripture was now becoming very clear for the first time.

    I was impressed when the pastor covered Old Testament scripture prophecy something I saw happening, a coming One World Religion and Government. He spoke about Jesus Christ, Bible texts written 600 years before His birth. The scripture spoke details of His birth, life, death and resurrection. These and many other Biblical prophecies now appeared to be proof for me that there is a God, that He inspired the Bible and meant for us to believe it. I learned that “Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.” [Romans 10:17]

    Can I explain how and why I finally understood God’s Word? Not exactly. But I know that this pastor spoke of Jesus, salvation and Heaven at, of all places, a musical concert. I also recall that this pastor spoke in simple, non “theological,” terms using Bible verses. He emphasized that my salvation and belief in Christ did not require that I stop my smoking, drinking, etc. This was contrary to what I had heard about religion’s demands. I had been told I must turn 180 degrees and walk the other direction from my sin, I must change my life, give my heart, my life, my all to Jesus; I heard that I must walk down the aisle to the altar, etcetera to have eternal life.

    This pastor simply showed me from the Bible that salvation is a free gift from God — to me personally by His Grace. I needed to simply appropriate eternal life by believing that Jesus died for me, period… absolutely free — nothing more and nothing less. It was so simple and clear.

    How could I believe in the trustworthiness of a God whom I had rejected for so long? How could I believe this message was trustworthy and true? I am not sure exactly how it all happened and became clear in my mind but I do have this illustration which may help.

    The sun has risen every day for centuries and proven itself to be dependable (faithful). Clouds may obscure the sun, but the sun is always there whether we see it or not. I believe (have faith) that the sun will rise tomorrow. I take it for granted. How? Why? The reason the sun has proven its dependability for years. We know it will do what it is supposed to do and has been doing for centuries.

    That example explains my faith in God’s promise of my salvation. My faith is founded and grounded on the dependability of the object of my faith, Jesus Christ and His Word.

    The more that preacher talked the more I was aware that I missed something in my earlier years (or never heard it). Churches and preachers had withheld or obscured this good news from me. To my knowledge, this was the first time I ever heard the undiluted truth about Jesus Christ.

    I began to see that God is dependable. I simply must understand what His Word says and believe in Christ. He has done and will do what He has promised. If I believe just that much, I am having faith in God’s veracity.

    That night the Pastor invited anyone to trust Christ as Savior. While I sat in the audience, I made the decision to trust Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. Christ asked nothing from me… just that I trust Him alone. What a relief to now know that my eternity is secure in the God of the universe. I have never regretted that decision and the more the years pass the stronger my faith becomes. Even though I did not understand it all, my original decision was based on evidence presented to me that night. It just made good sense to take God’s Gift freely offered that cost me nothing and would last for all eternity.

    As I began to grow in Christ, I analyzed what happened that December night. Here are eight scriptural facts that now stand out in my mind.

    God’s Word, the Bible says

    • God IS – and He is absolutely righteous, perfect (sinless). [Revelation 21:27 & Genesis 1:1].
    • We humans are all sinners (imperfect) are short of God’s perfection. “For all have sinned and come short of the glory (perfection) of God.” [Romans 3:23]
    • Our sin (imperfection) will keep us from being with God for all eternity. “The wages of sin is death (spiritual separation from God), but the gift of God is eternal life.” [Romans 623] A true gift is one given without strings and intended to be accepted . Just take it!
    • God loves us. “For God so loved the world (you and me) that He gave His only begotten Son (Jesus Christ) that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” [John 3:16] – (This is a verse I memorized as a child and never understood until 25 or 30 years later!)
    • Our good works cannot pay the debt for our sin (imperfection). “For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves; it (salvation) is the gift of God; Not of works, lest any man should boast.” [Ephesians 2:8-9]
    • Jesus Christ took upon Himself our sin (mine and yours) and He paid the death penalty for us. He is our substitute in death that we might have eternal life. Jesus rose from the grave proving He is God. “For He (God) made Him (Christ) who knew no sin, to be sin for us that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.” [II Corinthians 5:21]

    All God requires from us is that we believe the Holy Scripture when it says, God loves us so much He provided His Son to die for us, paying the death penalty for all who would believe in Him, thus giving “whosoever believeth” the free gift of eternal life by faith in Jesus Christ. What is our responsibility? We simply put our faith in Jesus Christ, believing that He is who He claims to be. I have faith that Jesus Christ died for me and offers me His gift of eternal life absolutely free. God promises it, now I believe it.

    You can KNOW you have eternal life. “These things have I (the apostle John) written to you that believe on the name of the Son of God, that you may KNOW you have eternal life, and that you may believe (trust) on the name of the Son of God (Jesus Christ).” [I John 5:13]

    John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

    By virtue of God’s Word, the Bible, I know my eternal destination is secure and safe with the Lord Jesus Christ the Savior (One who saves, not a probation officer). He will do what He says  – which is give me Eternal life (Heaven) as a FREE gift when I trust Him ALONE for my salvation..

    As I trusted Christ as my Savior, I approached my honest new found faith and belief in this pragmatic way

    • If Christ’s claims are NOT TRUE and I choose not to believe them, I lose nothing.
    • If Christ’s claims are NOT TRUE and I believe them, I lose nothing.
    • If Christ’s claims ARE TRUE and I do not believe them, I LOSE EVERYTHING.
    • But if Christ’s claims ARE TRUE and I believe them, I GAIN ALL ETERNITY.
    • I know Christ’s claims ARE TRUE!!! I have all eternity by my faith in Christ!

    I didn’t know at the time but my thoughts were similar to “Blaise Pascal’s Wager” with God. This seemed perfect for me.

    The wise person will believe Jesus Christ and trust Him alone as Savior and therefore have Eternal Life as God’s gift (not by works).

    Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the GIFT of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

    Titus 3:5 “Not by WORKS of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us,….” We ALL need the Savior because none of us are good or righteous by God’s required standards.

    Romans 3:10 “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one”

    The real essence of belief in Jesus Christ is that He is the Author and Finisher of our faith. Hebrews 12:2 “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; …..” He designed our salvation and then finished it when He paid my sin debt on the cross, was buried, then rose from the grave and was seen by hundreds. His last words on the cross were, “It is finished.” Nothing more needs to be done.

    Once a person determines in his mind to take that initial step of faith, the keeping and finishing of his faith is now up to Christ alone. Of course, this is contrary to most world religions. God does not require anyone to change his life, turn from sin, donate money, attend a church or study the Bible to receive or keep salvation. I started doing these things AFTER I trusted Jesus Christ as my Savior. These are not required for salvation but are things we should do in obedience to His Word. My motivation? I saw family and friends who were without Christ so the love of Christ compelled me. [2 Corinthians 5:14]

    When I decided to start going to church, I searched long and hard to find one that did not strap me with the legalistic “Do and Don’t” routine. Religions require the “Do.. Don’t” to keep adherents in line.

    In the Bible, the Apostle Paul mostly used the word “religion” in a negative sense when he was talking to the self righteous Pharisees. False religions require us to continually ingratiate ourselves to God. You probably know of some false religions that attempt to keep you “in the fold.” I am not “religious,” because I don’t have to make myself acceptable to God. He has already finished that work on the cross when Jesus Christ died for me. The moment I believed, He bound me permanently to Himself. I cannot lose that “forever” relationship.

    My relationship with God is now similar to an earthly father-son relationship. I am kin to my earthly father by birth and blood; I will always be His son. Nothing he nor I can do will ever alter that fact. Similarly, I am God’s son by virtue of the shed blood of Christ by my faith decision and nothing will sever that relationship. My fellowship with God can be hindered by my behavior or disobedience, but I will always be His son. He will discipline me as a good Father should, but that discipline is never eternal  expulsion. That, my friend, is  security!

    The question has been posed, “What does it feel like to believe, really believe?”

    It is a wonderful thing to really believe, but we must be careful to base our faith and belief on Biblical FACT and not feeling. For instance, tomorrow I may wake up feeling lousy. Since my diagnosis of prostate cancer I occasionally do. If I based my faith in Christ or my eternal destination on my feeling, I would be doomed right now. The phrase, “I know,” is a powerful combination of words. I know I have eternal life, not because I feel it but because I trust Jesus Christ for it. He guarantees it, He is dependable even though my feelings are not. [1 John 5:13]

    The statement has been made, “I don’t know to whom I’m praying or really why. I have trouble imagining God and my place in all of that.”

    Prayer is a mental exercise directed to the Lord, either spoken or not. A person seeking to know God prays to Him and asks God to reveal Himself through His Word. He may reveal Himself to you as you read Scripture in this communication.

    One who has trusted Christ as Savior prays to God “in the name of Christ”. Such prayers may be of thanks, intercession for one’s self or others, for physical, spiritual, health or financial needs to be met, for more understanding of the Scripture or just about anything else you may imagine. I found prayer awkward at first, but someone described prayer as a simple talk to God, just as I would have a son-father talk with my Dad. It worked for me.

    The Scripture clearly says in 1 Timothy 2:5, “For there is one God, and one mediator (intercessor) between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;” We have a direct line to God. We do not need a pastor, priest, saints, Mary or otherwise to pray to Him. Many religions try to make us so dependent on the religious rituals that we become convinced that we are unable to speak directly to God through prayer. These religions are not abiding by scripture!

    As you read this I pray for your understanding of this letter and the Scripture. Right now please, the best you know how, trust Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. You may not understand it all, but He is God and He knows we are often confused by a mental overload. He will honor your sincere desire to know the truth — and as scripture says, “You shall know the Truth and the Truth shall set you free!” [John 8:32] Jesus Christ said “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life; no man cometh unto the Father but by me.” [John 14:6] Put those two verses together and you have the miracle of eternal life and salvation through Jesus Christ alone.

    After we trust Jesus Christ as Savior, we certainly should do good works (the Scripture says so), but such good works are not required to gain or keep our eternal salvation. We cannot gain any assurance of eternal life by our good works.

    The teaching of good works meriting salvation is not found anywhere in God’s Holy Bible and it is the most subtle counterfeit of God’s Grace for salvation. Remember also, the closer the counterfeit is to the real thing, the more difficult it is to detect but most important – it is still a counterfeit.

    The Holy Bible gives clear instructions about how a believer should live. We should find a good church, a fellowship of believers, we should study the Bible, we should pray to the Lord in Jesus’ name. We now have the opportunity to tell others about God’s grace that gives us eternal life by our faith in Jesus Christ. Share the Good News with friends (and enemies; you’ll make friends of them.) These are all voluntary blessings of which you may partake when you become a child of God by Faith.

    Below is a video from Fox News showing the election night rally where hundreds of students from George Washington University marched down Pennsylvania Avenue to the White House.

    These Lemmings are celebrating Obama by waving the Red Communist hammer and sickle flag.

    That is indeed a change, Mr Obama. Have we heard Barack Hussein Obama disavow this group of students????
    Friends, this election is at least as bad as we anticipated and undoubtedly will be much worse. Pray for America.
    We are already infested with anti-Christian, anti-God, Marxist radicals. Many of these kids don’t look old enough to read a cereal box, much less understand the Communist Manifesto.

    I Mourn For Our Republic

    This is a slightly revised message I sent to my friend Mustang this morning.

    I mourn for our Free Constitutional Republic.

    Yesterday it was flushed down the sewer of Marxism. I fear that our poor ignorant people will be so mesmerized by the largess and promises of big Barakian government, their revolution will be permanent.

    I expect this to be my last Presidential election — it was not one of rejoicing but of deep sadness.

    [**UPDATE**} My Granddaughter, Tara, was upset when she read that I expected this to be my last election. No Tara, I will be around as long as the Lord will have me here... but keep looking up... the Rapture is closer now that it was yesterday.[******]

    However, I am pleased that younger Patriots like you [all of you Conservative Bloggers] refuse to be discouraged but will carry on.

    My America is not a Marxist nation even though she voted to be. That is an unfathomable reality. But there is always Hope (not the Barakian kind, but from God).

    May God bless America — the land of the Free and the home of the Brave!!
